Keep Britain Tidy manages a number of programmes that actively engage local communities and supports them in improving their own local environments. This includes programmes that focus specifically on enhancing the quality of our rivers, beaches and seas. An example of one of these projects is the Fylde BeachCare project in the Northwest of England

We’re passionate about this area of work and in 2012 we joined the Turning Tides - a partnership of organisations working together in North West England to do everything we can to improve the quality of our bathing waters. Through infrastructure, planning, campaigning, volunteering, educating, engaging and hard work, our aim is to make sure everyone enjoys our beaches for generations to come.

Turning Tides is the partnership behind LOVEmyBEACH - a campaign with a huge challenge: to work together to keep our local beaches and bathing waters clean. You don’t have to live by the sea to make a difference – wherever you live, work, visit in the North West, please support LOVEmyBEACH. We have opportunities for volunteering, becoming a LOVEmyBEACH business or you can just do some simple things at home to reduce pollution that ends up in the sea.  Find out how you can help on the LOVEmyBEACH website.

“As a national charity that works extensively with communities to improve their local environments, we’re delighted to be part of the Turning Tides partnership. It’s increasingly important to recognise that we can all play a role in improving our beaches and bathing water through simple changes to everyday behaviours at home, at work and at the beach.”
